Getting coloured hair and highlights
Getting colour through your hair is a great way to brighten your appearance and give you an instant make over. Lots of women and men get colour in their hair to highlight a cut or just give their hair some depth. If you are planning on getting colour highlights or lowlights ask one of our stylist at Urban Hair Care for advice on getting the right look for you.
Before you get highlights you should consider what colour would look good with your natural hair colour, skin complexion and eye colour. Some people go for bright, dramatic, colourful stripes whereas others go for more subtle, light colours.
If you don’t think highlights will look good you could go for a technique called colour chunking. This technique consists of blocks of colour through your hair, commonly done by natural blonds who put blocks of dark blonde on the underside of their hair.
Contact one of our members of staff for more information on highlights and colouring your hair.
How to look after your hair
If your hair is greasy after a day then you should wash your hair daily and only lather once rather than washing your hair less frequently and lathering twice. When you use conditioner rinse thoroughly, leaving conditioner in your hair is not beneficial. Make sure you use the right type of conditioner for your hair.
When washing your hair rub the shampoo into your hands before applying it to thouroughly wet hair. Massage the shampoo into your scalp and rince out all of the shampoo. Make sure your rinse the shampoo out.
When conditioning your hair rub the conditioner between your hands just like you did with the shampoo then apply to the ends of your hair. Do not rub the conditioner into your scalp as this can cause itchiness and flaking and also make your hair dry.
Dry your hair in a towel but make sure not to rough it up too much as this can break the hairs. Leaving your hair to dry naturally is best but if you do need to blow dry the hair try to not dry it completely.
Old Hairstyles making a comeback

Old hairstyles form back in the day when Audrey Hepburn and Ingrid Bergman where walking the street are making a comeback for those women who can pull them off!
The retro look is being shown on stars at the recent grammy awards where Christina Aguilera went for a swept and curled front locks and extreme curls at the back to give a convincing Marilyn Monroe hairstyle. Curl's are definetly in at the moment and are great if you have sholder length or longer hair, especially if you are heading out to an event or party. The off center parting with a wind swept fringe will look great with big curl's as well as lots of small curle's, and if you can get away with the bright red lipstick and dress you will be really at home with the hollywood stars.
